6 life-size sculptures for the film were cast over life models in beeswax, cotton fabric and cinnamon and reinforced later with hessian wax and metal mesh.

The film reflects on the rituals of early Christian monks living in isolated, monastic settlements off the west coast of Ireland from the 6th century.

Commissioned by Tread Softly for its 2024 festival and supported through an Arts Council of Ireland Commissions Award and Go Fund Me, this new film work was exhibited at the Hamilton Gallery in Sligo from 3. - 31. August 2024 as part of Tread Softly Festival.

Monk is the final part of a trilogy of film collaborations between Seitz and videographers Peter Martin and Fionn Rogers, following on from Underwave (Seitz/Rogers 2020) and Ancestors (Seitz/Martin/Rogers/2021). Sound design is by Joe Hunt.
